In STEM 4M made predictions as to which coin would hold the most drops of water in a meniscus before surface tension broke down.

Students then wrote down their predictions and conclusions improving their vocabulary and oracy in the process.

In STEM this week, we looked at the strength of paper and how folding it into different shapes can make it stronger or weaker. We then used books to test the strength of our paper shapes! 
 

Well Done 3S!!!

Our winning 6th form student had a great day at the ‘If I was an engineer’ exhibition yesterday. Thomas went along with his Mum & brother, as well as PCA staff to receive his award. 

3T had a great time experimenting in STEM using coke bottles and bicarbonate of soda to make balloons inflate!

3C’s task this week was to work together as a group to identify what could be inside a mystery tin. There objective was to make educated guesses as to what the contents of the tin could be. 

4S were set a STEM challenge in their science lesson, ‘The Floor Is Lava’ we had to balance some objects and make sure they didn’t hit the floor.

We all did really well and enjoyed the challenge.

3S have enjoyed a STEM day today.We had a visit from an engineer and found it very interesting finding out what his job entailed.We asked him lots of questions.Then we had a chance to design and build a dog bed for Daisy or Molly.

Today we have experienced being an engineer, exploring the function and design of different products. We’ve used materials from around the classroom to problem solve, and have been so inventive.
